Inspired by nature, designed with precision
If we were created to live in water, our bodies would look completely different. Human limbs, our way of moving, and body structure are adapted for land, not for efficient movement in the water column. Yet, thanks to technology and observing nature, we can now design equipment that brings us closer to the movement efficiency of marine creatures.
This is precisely how the Oceanic Manta Ray fins were created – a unique diving tool inspired by the movement of large, powerful marine animals that move underwater with ease, grace, and precision.
The creative process – from idea to perfection
The Manta Ray project was led by Andrea Silvestri, an experienced designer and current Vice President of Product Development at Oceanic. With years of experience designing fins for various renowned brands, Silvestri set a goal to create fins that would be not only effective and comfortable but also intuitive to use and durable.
The inspiration came from the natural movements of large marine animals – their ability to move quickly and smoothly with minimal effort. To achieve a similar effect in diving equipment, the Oceanic team dedicated many months to selecting the right materials, optimizing the design, and testing in various diving conditions.
Adjustment that makes a difference
Adjustment that makes a difference
One of the most important distinguishing features of the Oceanic Manta Ray fins is the innovative spring adjustment system – the Easy Buckle Adjustment (EBA). This patented solution allows for precise adjustment of the spring length by up to 5 cm on each side, without the use of tools.
This solution is particularly useful when traveling – when changing dive boots, diving in different waters, or using shared equipment. The simple and solid adjustment mechanism works intuitively and ensures the fin stays securely on the foot in all conditions.
Tested by divers – proven in real conditions
Before the Manta Ray fins hit the market, they underwent a series of thorough tests. The Oceanic team prepared nine different prototypes, which were evaluated by 15 experienced divers. The tests took place in controlled conditions and included measurements of propulsion force, gas consumption, comfort, and stability while moving underwater.
Based on this data, two designs were selected that best combined efficiency with a natural, light movement. The final version was created after additional tests with divers from the USA, Europe, and Australia. Thanks to their feedback, it was possible to select materials and a shape that provide the highest level of comfort and performance.
Why choose Oceanic Manta Ray?
The Oceanic Manta Ray fins are the result of combining design experience, advanced technology, and practical tests with divers from all over the world. What do they offer?
