Take care of your drysuit.

HOW TO PREPARE AND CARE FOR A BARE DRYSUIT FOR DIVING:

A drysuit is very useful, both for diving in winter and in other seasons. It provides protection during diving and prevents heat loss during long explorations in caves and wrecks. A properly fitted suit will ensure you have a comfortable dive. A drysuit will make it not a cold, depressing experience but a pleasure during every dive.

PROPER SIZING OF A BARE DRYSUIT:

Before you start diving with a drysuit, be sure to fit the correct size. Make sure it fits your body shape and all seals (at the wrists and neck) are fitted to you. At Bare, there are 20 men's sizes and 11 women's sizes available. So it's easy to find the right size without overpaying for custom tailoring. At Bare, custom tailoring is a last resort. You can get the suit precisely fitted at a local BARE dealer.

When trying on a drysuit for diving, make sure you are wearing the thickest underwear you own. Thus prepared, put on the suit and perform range of motion tests to ensure the suit does not restrict free movement. If your movements are restricted in any way, take a larger size. Once you find the right one, a properly trained salesperson will help you fit the neck and wrist seals. They should all be snug, but not too tight.

ZIPPERS IN A DRYSUIT:

Once the suit is fitted, it's time to think about the zippers. Proper care of the suit's zipper is probably the most important thing to extend the life of a drysuit. Taking care of the zipper ensures a dry dive every time, and frequent lubrication of the zipper extends its life. Apply the lubricant included with the suit to the very end of the zipper, on the front and inside. If the suit is unused for a long time, repeat the lubrication activities. During storage and transport, the zipper should be closed.

TIPS FOR CARING FOR A DRYSUIT:

  • Do not expose the suit to sunlight or excessive heat.
  • Rinse the suit with water after each dive. Hang the suit up to dry.
  • DO NOT USE wax, aerosol, or paraffin-based lubricants on the zipper, as this will adversely affect the zipper and the suit material. Using these products makes it easier for dirt and sand to settle, making it difficult to use the zipper.
  • Gently clean the zipper using a soft toothbrush. If necessary, use water with a little soap.
  • Store the suit, making sure it is clean and completely dry. Roll it up into the suit bag included in the set and store it in a dry, cool place. You can also store the suit hanging on a hanger in a dry room, but be careful not to store it near a heater or other device that emits heat.
  • Use only zipper lubricants recommended by the manufacturer.

  • If you take proper care of your drysuit, you will be able to enjoy it for a long time. A perfectly fitted drysuit for diving made of durable materials, providing great mobility, with functional pockets and a special “slim cut design” will provide you with years of great protection during all types of diving.
